One collection, one girl, one interview

Meet the face of our SS17 collection, Katherine Moore (19). We sat down with the bright red haired model to talk about Texas, her modeling career and her personal style.

Interview with Katie Moore - Essentiel Antwerp

Why should we visit Texas, the place where you grew up?

Everyone should go to Texas at some point! There is such an interesting mix of culture, and the art and food scene is to die for. It's not all horses and cowboys ;).

What are the top 3 places to see in Texas?

Austin and Houston are definitely must-do’s in Texas, for the amazing art and food. And if you want a more ‘down south experience’, Marfa is where the famous Prada structure in the middle of the desert is.

Do you have other projects besides modeling?

Besides modeling, I'm starting up acting again!

What would you be doing if you weren’t modeling and why?

If I wasn't a model I'd probably be doing something in musical theatre. I trained for it for years and always thought I'd audition for Broadway right out of high school, but modeling really took off for me back then.

What do you like/dislike about modeling?

What I like about modeling is that I get the opportunity to travel, meet amazing people and build a platform for myself! No other job can really give you these kinds of experiences. But what I don't like is the pressures it brings, and not being able to make solid plans because I never know what my schedule will look like.

How did you get discovered?

I got discovered when I was hanging out with my friends, who are all much shorter than I am. I guess I just stood out!

Do you have a funny anecdote about modeling?

The funniest thing that has ever happened to me through this experience was definitely during FW16 fashion week. A hair dye malfunction turned my copper red hair BRIGHT pink and they had to dye my hair backstage right before a show!

What have been the most unforgettable experiences in your modeling career so far?

The most unforgettable experiences of this journey so far have been opening Alexander Wang, and every show that followed that. Shooting with Mario Testino was a huge deal for me. And then of course walking Chanel for the first time in my second season.

Who would you like to work with in the future?

Working with photographer Steven Meisel is still on my checklist. I think his work is just phenomenal.

Can you tell us a funny anecdote about the shoot of SS17 ESSENTIEL ANTWERP?

Too many funny moments! I got along so well with the whole team, I actually miss them! I really loved our dance party when we finished the shoot.

What’s your favorite look of SS17 ESSENTIEL ANTWERP?

My favorite look of Essentiel SS17 has to be the lipstick print dress.

What do you love/ hate about travelling?

I love experiencing new cultures and seeing the beautiful sights. But I absolutely hate airports, I'm very impatient when it comes to travelling.

What are the three things you can’t miss while travelling?

When I'm travelling I can’t live without my headphones, a charger, and coffee!!

Tell us more about your personal style?

My personal style is a mix between boho and chic. Some days I like to wear flowy dresses, on other days I'm in A-line skirts or sleek pants.

What should we buy for Spring Summer 2017 to keep up with the latest trends?

There were definitely a lot of florals and prints on the SS17 runway!

What is your beauty secret?

My beauty secret is just being myself. And being healthy. I feel like if a model is trying to be something she's not, people can see right through it. To me, happiness is beauty.

How do you stay fit?

As I believe in fitness of body and mind, I'm seriously addicted to yoga and pilates.

Who do you admire?

I admire my mom and sister.

Who is your style icon?

My style icon is probably Twiggy.
