Style What Essentiel wears - Julie Van Eccelpoel

Let us introduce you to Julie Van Eccelpoel, Retail Project Coordinator at our headquarters.  She is in charge of variety of things for all Essentiel shops in Belgium and the rest of Europe: stock management, coordination of sales periods, communication between headquarters and the stores, coordination of store openings, etc, …

How did you end up at Essentiel?

When I was 20, I worked as a student in the first Essentiel store in Antwerp, located in Hopland. After my studies, I started my career in HR, but I missed my time at Essentiel. So I applied again, started in one of the stores and after one year I moved to the beautiful headquarters.

What has been the most unforgettable memory?

I have great memories of our shop openings in Paris St-Honoré and Printemps, I stayed in Paris for more than 10 days to coordinate the opening and fell in love with the city.
Do I have to  mention that our Essentiel parties are quite memorable as well!

Explain your style

75% of my closet is Essentiel, and I must admit I’m always proud to say I’m wearing Essentiel when people compliment my outfit.
In general I go for basic colours, I’m not a print kind of girl. After all those years at Essentiel Antwerp, I know exactly which items to pick. In winter season, I go for soft cashmere sweaters, simple skirts, a dark pair of jeans and sneakers. In summer, I opt for light jeans, white crisp shirts or flowy dresses.  I like to finish it off with one of my Essentiel bags.

Your style icon?

To be honest I do not have a real style icon? On Instagram I do follow some pretty ladies that reflect my style. Lately I’m into Blanca Miró and Caroline Receveur.

Your beauty secret?

For my skin, I can’t deny I’m totally into Kiehl's: I use some cleansing and hydrating products on daily basis and once a week I put on their clay mask. A true-life saver if you ask me.
When my skin feels a bit dehydrated in winter, I turn to their Coriander body lotion.
Besides that, I’m addicted to running, it gives me energy and a healthy glow. And of course, the basics: I try to eat healthy and drink lots of water.

What are you into lately?

Bodies, they keep me warm. I’ve always been a great fan of bodies, it’s funny they’ve made their comeback recently.

Favorite place for breakfast and why?

Barnini is just around the corner of our office; after a latte and a ‘boke spek’,  and I’m ready to tackle a busy day at work!
Pain Quotidien has the best granola to kick start any day.

Favorite place for lunch and why?

The Cuisinette of Domestic is a hidden gem in the heart of Antwerp, the sandwiches and pastries are unbelievably good and the staff is always friendly.
The food truck of Graanmarkt13 is great as well, you never know when it will be there, you just have to be lucky!

Favorite restaurant and why?

Orso in Zurenborg is the cutest little place to have pizza. Don’t forget to make a reservation in time as there are only a couple of tables.

Favorite place to have drinks and why?

Barbossa at Mechelseplein and Walvis in Zurenborg are my favourite bars at the moment, both at walking distance from my apartment.

Favorite things to do on a Saturday?

During the weekend I try to go to Middelheim parc for my 10k run.
On Saturday, you can find me at the Vogelmarkt for my weekly flowers, grocery shopping and apéro with friends.
